Welcome to Hartford Jazz Society

.

.

Founded in 1960, the Hartford Jazz Society is the nation's oldest membership organization producing jazz events.

Our Vision-

The mission of The Hartford Jazz Society is to foster interest, understanding, and appreciation of jazz by presenting a variety of live jazz events and by nurturing new generations of jazz performers and audiences. It is summed up in our slogan, "Keeping jazz alive." In carrying out its mission it collaborates with other jazz presenters and teaching institutions.

Programmes and Activities-

The Hartford Jazz Society's annual calendar includes its signature "Jazz at the Atheneum" concert series (at the nation's oldest art museum), "Monday Night Jazz" in Bushnell Park (the nation's oldest jazz series that is free to the public), its nationally famous Jazz Cruise, weekly jam sessions in a club setting where students play with professional jazz musicians, master classes in jazz, and annual jazz scholarships to students entering jazz programs in college.
